Suave’s Fashion Star Review and Giveaway

My daughter and I were given the opportunity to try Suave’s Professionals Moroccan Infusion Moroccan Argan Styling Oil and House of Harlow 1960 Sunburst Stud Earrings with White Stingray Leather as a Princess Perk (this means Suave sent it to me in exchange for a review).  We took this as an excuse to have our own Mother/Daughter fashion show at home.  My daughter is 4 so her picture taking skills are not the best but we had fun playing dress up and trying to do our hair different than we normally do.

I sampled Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Moroccan Argan Styling Oil.  I have to say it has a very pleasant smell and the oil calmed my frizzy hair and made it very manageable.  My hair had a very nice shine to it and felt very soft.  I have to say I was concerned about putting an oil in my hair but was surprised by the way it worked and made my hair more manageable and soft and shine as if I was one of the models in Fashion Star.

The House of Harlow 1960 Sunburst Stud Earrings with White Stingray Leather were beautiful and they gave great detail to how they were put together.  The earrings themselves were rather heavy but once I put them in they were comfortable and I did not notice how heavy they were.  I usually only wear small stud’s so this was a change for me.

I have to say that the most impressive thing out of the two products was the Suave Moroccan infusion line.  I will be looking into it when I go to the store.  I would like to try the entire Suave Moroccan Infusion line because I loved how it made my hair look and I really loved the smell.

My desire to try the entire line must have been told to Suave by a fortune teller.  They actually emailed me and asked me if I would be willing to give away a complete set of the entire Suave Moroccan Infusion line to a lucky Red Carpet Mamas reader.  In exchange for hosting that contest they would send me a complete set also!  Win-Win!!  (See the Rafflecopter below for how to enter)

My daughter and I enjoyed watching Fashion Star and we were so happy that Hunter won.  We were watching and saying what we thought each other would look pretty in.  It was a nice night of mother/daughter fun and entertainment.  My daughter has asked each evening since if we can have another fashion show.

Unusual Beauty Items

Unusual beautyiItems crop up from time to time. Some new beauty items are wonderful inventions and some….well, they just make you scratch your head and wonder WHY. Here are some of the newer items out there…have you ever used any of these? What do you think of them?

Have you ever tried the new Lip Tattoo Transfer ?  It works similar to those rub on tattoos you had when you were a child; however, they have all kinds of designs for your lips.  They also have the same thing for your eyes called Eye Appliques or Eye Tattoos.  While these are not something to wear everyday they are unusual enough that an evening at a club or a costume party would be a great place for them.

I have always known that eating healthy was a good way to keep my hair and face looking their best; however, now you able to just apply the products to your skin and hair to get the results. There is a Yes To Tomatoes 3 Step Acne System; a Yes To Carrots Body Butter (which I honestly LOVE to times when my skin is super dry!) and even Colloidal Oatmeal Soap! Have you ever sat back and wondered how bored people were to come up with some inventions or what exactly made them even try things to see if they worked?

One of the new things that I personally really like and admit to originally getting at a salon is the new Gel Manicure.  Yes, they are more expensive; however, I loved that my nail polish lasted 3 weeks rather than less than a week.  I must be very hard on nail polishes since I cannot make it last longer than a week….with the new gel manicures it lasts much longer and looks great.  (I did buy a kit to do my own at home now though).  Another new nail item is Nail polish strips.  I have not personally tried them; however, I can understand the reasoning behind them.  I am just worried that if they go on so easy and mess free, that they would come off just as easy.

Hair Trends for 2013

Hair Trends for 2013… will the most popular haircuts and colors from 2012 stick around or are they already passe?  Behind the Chair has issued their Hair Trends for 2013 Report.

Ombre seems to be on its way out to be replaced by rainbow highlights instead.  Creative color is staying as are the shorter cuts; however, they feel that the we will see more short sporty cuts or “bob’s” rather than pixie style cuts.  The newest hairstyle is expected to be “the Chop”.

So…..do you agree with their predictions?  Do you change your hairstyle year to year to go with the trends or do you stick with your tried and true do?

Want Nicole Richie’s Red Carpet Look?

We all know that celebrities have stylists that do their hair for them for public appearances; however, did you know sometimes these looks are very easy to do at home?

Here is how you can replicate Nicole’s red carpet look by Suave Professionals® Stylist, Jenny Cho:
1. Wash hair with Suave Professionals® Moroccan Infusion Shine Shampoo  and Conditioner, and then blow dry hair using a large paddle brush.
2. Part hair on the side and begin curling with a one-inch barrel curling iron. Be sure to hold the curling barrel horizontal to the head.
3. After curling each section, use bobby pins to hold in place.
4. Blast hair all over with a hot dryer for 1-2 minutes to help set the curls.
5. Remove the bobby pins, lightly brush the hair to soften curls and finish with Suave Professionals® Touchable Finish Super Hold Hairspray
6. Place 1-2 drops of the New Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Styling Oil in palms and rub hands together. Avoiding the roots, gently run hands over the surface of the hair to add a radiant shine.
7. Place the Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Styling Oil in your clutch for touchups on the go.

Katie Holmes New Co-Owner/Spokesperson for Alterna

Katie Holmes seems to be doing very well for herself lately. She recently signed on to be the Co-owner and the spokesperson for Alterna Haircare products. Katie Holmes is also going to be featured in Alterna’s first ever print advertising. Kathie Holmes is with Alterna because “I love that Alterna uses natural and organic ingredients and stays away from harsh chemicals like sulfates and parabens,” she said. “It’s good for my hair and good for the earth, so I feel good using it.” [recent quote from WWD and taken from Behind the Chair article]. Alterna is happy to have Katie since they feel she is their ideal customer.

With new launches for Alterna in early Spring and Holmes’ new fashion line Holmes & Yang, I expect we will see a lot more of Katie Holmes in 2013.
